Issuing his appeal, the DUP Assemblyman revealed he has facilitated meetings with community groups and officials from Council including Environmental Health, PSNI and the Housing Executive over the past few months “to try and iron out issues that officials have in dealing with this issue”.

He said: “I have been contacted by a number of constituents in North Antrim over the years to report a series of complaints associated with anti-social behaviour.

“In a lot of cases the nuisance continues on for months with no sign of resolution. I blame the irresponsible and unreasonable people who cause the nuisance of course but victims of this crime look to officials to assist them to end their nightmare...Whilst they always receive a sympathetic ear, the anti social behaviour seems to continue unabated. It is true that some may cause nuisance without knowing and when they are informed they stop, but unreasonable people will carry on. This is when we really need our officials to step up and cause a halt to the activities.”

Mr Frew said he is now awaiting a progress report from the officials he has met with so far.

“I will be requesting a follow up meeting fairly soon to ensure sufficient pressure is applied on all the agencies involved. I will also give a commitment that I will work with all players to bring to an end this blight on our society,” he added.
