The DUP Assemblyman said he had been in discussions with both PSNI and TransportNI since February to ensure the safety and well being of pedestrians and road users in area.

“I’m delighted to report that police have requested, and it has now been approved, that the Taylorstown Road is to be designated as a ‘Community Concern Site’,” Mr Frew said.

He added: “This status permits the NI Road Safety Partnership to deploy the mobile Safety Camera Van for the purposes of carrying out proactive speed enforcement.

Police have suggested a number of locations that would be appropriate to park the safety camera and enforcement will commence shortly.

“This is a warning that whilst I don’t want anyone caught speeding, it certainly isn’t acceptable to speed in this area where a large number of children play and by speeding you put those children, yourself and any passengers you have at great risk.”
