Funeral to be held today for tragic Coalisland teenager Ronan Hughes

The funeral of the Coalisland teenager who took his own life after being tricked into posting images online, will be heled today.

Hundreds of mourners including GAA clubmates and school friends of 17-year-old Ronan Hughes are expected to attend the funeral service at St Patrick’s Church in Clonoe.

Yesterday the Mid-Ulster District police commander Superintendent Mike Baird revealed that an investigation was continuing into the circumstances surrounding the teenager’s death.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a 17-year-old schoolboy in the Coole Road area of Coalisland on Friday 5 June.

Police issue online safety advice after Clonoe schoolboy takes own life“Our enquiries into this tragedy are continuing, however, it is understood the schoolboy took his own life after he had been tricked into posting images on a social networking site.”

Writing on their Facebook page, Clonoe O’Rahilly’s said: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of one of our young players Ronan Hughes. A young man full of potential and willingness to learn. We urge any of our players, members who are having difficulties to talk with someone.

“Our coaches are always willing to listen to any young players. Please be vigilant of your children and friends, and look out for one another.”
