Get on your bike - it’s good for your pulmonary health
However they have now done more than talk about it. They have donated funds, raised locally, to enable the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Team at the Causeway Hospital to provide exercise bikes for their rehabilitation classes at Coleraine and Ballymoney leisure centres.
Breathe Easy Causeway Chairman, Bill Blair, said: “Research tells us that pulmonary rehabilitation leads to improvements in your ability to exercise. One benefit is that you will be able to walk farther.”

Hide AdMr Blair praised the initiative and enterprise of local members and respiratory specialist who organised awareness raising events at Asda, Coleraine, and Kennedy’s Pharmacy Rasharkin, Gordons and Campbell Pharmacies throughout the Causeway area during Breathe Easy Week.
He said: “Even if only one person who is experiencing breathlessness visits their GP or joins a lung support group due to these events in Breathe Easy Week, then our work will have been worthwhile.”
Breathe Easy Causeway is already planning a busy schedule for the new season which starts in September. It is a blend of friendly get-togethers over tea and coffee, expert advice on how best to live with a breathing problem. Alongside this there will be a wide variety of speakers on many interesting and unusual topics.
Throughout the new season, during which members will meet on the first Thursday of each month from 7pm – 9pm at the Coleraine Rugby Club. Respiratory specialists will be in attendance to advise members. Everyone welcome.
