Gift filled shoe boxes off to Kenya

DURING the past six weeks a group of women and men from the Ballymena area have been working in Ahoghill receiving, checking and packing the many gift-filled shoe boxes kindly donated by schools, churches and individuals in the community.

The group works within the Samaritan’s Purse Organisation who work with churches in many other countries in Eastern Europe and Africa to assist their communities to become self sufficient and more independent.

The idea behind the gift-filled shoe boxes is to bring some joy to the children in these communities and to let them become aware of the love of others for them.

The group wishes to thank everyone who has supported this year’s appeal by donating boxes, items to fill boxes and donations to assist in the cost of transportation.

On Saturday, November 17 a container packed with almost 700 cartons containing 6850 shoe boxes left Ahoghill bound for children in Kenya.
