Glengormley school pupils quiz councillors during mill visit

PUPILS from Glengormley High School and Edmund Rice College enjoyed a visit to Newtownabbey Council's Mossley Mill headquarters recently.

A group of 40 thirteen and fourteen-year-olds from the two schools were shown around the recently redeveloped mill building on Thursday, January 14 by DUP alderman Nigel Hamilton and Alliance councillor Billy Webb.

The young people got to see behind the scenes at the borough’s civic headquarters, including a tour of the soon-to-open Theatre at the Mill. They also got the opportunity to ask the two elected representatives questions in the council chamber and learn more about the workings of the council.

It is understood that pupils at both schools are now considering setting up their own ‘political parties’ and holding their own elections.
