Goddard is new chief

THE former PSNI area commander in Larne, Nigel Goddard, has been appointed to command H District.

T/Chief Superintendent Goddard succeeds Chief Superintendent Alan McCrum, who has taken up a new post in Belfast.

Mr Goddard, who has been serving as H District's community safety superintendent and operations manager, is in now in charge of policing in the Ballymena, Coleraine, Ballymoney, Moyle and Larne areas.

The new chief has said he believes neighbourhood policing will “pay dividends when seeking solutions to issues brought to us by local residents”.

Mr Goddard added: “In recent years I have been involved in the advancement of neighbourhood policing and by working with communities and by listening and responding to the concerns of local people, I am confident that we can develop and deliver a more personal, protective and professional policing service across the north-east.

“As district commander, I will be making the best possible use of our resources to maximise the visibility and effectiveness of all our officers in a determined effort to reduce the level of crime and to increase public confidence in policing.”
