Green light for distillery at Ebrington

The Office of the First and Deputy First Minister has confirmed that a Londonderry firm is to open a distillery at the Ebrington complex.

Niche Drinks, based at Rossdowney Road in the Waterside, has been given approval to set up shop in four buildings in Ebrington, creating the new Quiet Man Craft distillery. Lambert smith Hampton, the agents for SIB

Welcoming the development, Robin Young, director at the company said: “Niche Drinks confirm that their Expression of Interest to build a fully operating distiller and associated visitor experience in the Ebrington complex has been accepted and they are current in negotiations with OFMDFM to complete the legal contracts. On the assumption that agreement will be reached, It is anticipated that a full planning application will be submitted within the next few months.”

On Monday afternoon a spokesperson for the Executive Office also confirmed the decision, saying: “We can confirm Niche Drinks Ltd has been identified as preferred occupant for four of the buildings on the Ebrington site. Further discussions will follow to allow a formal announcement to be made.”

Earlier this year Niche Drinks won two titles at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for ‘The Quiet Man Traditional Irish Blend’ and ‘The Quiet Man 8 Year Old Single Malt’.
