The cute canine was found as a stray just outside Belfast before being brought to Crosskennan Lane Animal Sanctuary in Antrim.

A golden Labrador cross, she was to be temporarily housed with a volunteer.

A staff member at the animal charity said: “After spending several days in their supposedly temporary foster home, her new foster mum has now decided that she cannot part with her and as no owner could be found, despite our best efforts, it looks like she has now found a new forever home.

“Despite her age she was not properly house trained and thankfully her new mum is very understanding of this and is working with her to train her properly. Who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?

“She is now being treated like an absolute princess and sleeps in her new foster mum’s bed at night!”

Meanwhile, the staff has issued an appeal over animals available for re-homing at the sanctuary.

“We have a cat and three kittens with us at present who had been abandoned and another one found abandoned just down the road from us over the weekend,” the staff member added.

Crosskennan is also offering a reward for the safe return of River, a pregnant mare who was stolen from their premises earlier this month.
