History lesson for Probus

To celebrate the 400th Anniversary of the Plantation of Ulster,Peter gave an overview of the history of the Plantation and its particular impact on Coleraine based on the theme:History is the story of US if we had been born a little earlier.

His excellent powerpoint presentation concentrated on the role of the Honourable the Irish Society and the legacy of the Guilds of the City of London, not least the badge of Coleraine High School!

Also important were the strategic reasons for the Plantation and the lengths JamesI went to, to secure the settlement,the cultural and social impact most obviously displayed in the town of Coleraine itself. After taking questions from members the vote of thanks was proposed by Des Moore, who congratulated Peter on his excellent presentation.
