Hop on your bike for Ulster Cancer Foundation

CYCLISTS of all ages and abilities are invited to hop on their bikes and take part in this year’s annual ‘FROG’ cycling event taking place in the Glens of Antrim on June 2 and raising money for the Ulster Cancer Foundation (UCF).

‘FROG’, or ‘Fun Run Of the Glens’, begins at 9am at the Glenravel Sports and Community complex, Martinstown and is a road based cycling challenge of either 50miles or 100miles (depending on how daring you are!) that takes participants on a challenging route around the Glens area. Cyclists will be spurred on at snack stops and treated to lunch after 50miles. Those braving both routes can unwind and relax their muscles post-ride at the Glenravel Sports and Community complex steam room.

Aside from a great day’s bike ride, the objective of this event is to raise as much as possible to enable UCF to continue to provide services free-of-charge to cancer patients and their families in Northern Ireland. There is no minimum sponsorship to take part in this event, all are welcome, warts and all, regardless of funds or donations raised; however, cyclists who raise over £100 will qualify for the official FROG 2012 cycling jersey, a special keepsake from the day!

Suzi McILwain, Community Fundraiser, UCF said: “A huge thank you to Paul McToal of FROG for organising this fun cycling event. To date FROG has raised over £50,000 for Cancer charities so we are expecting this year to be another great success. All cyclists will really enjoy the community spirit of this event, as well as the challenge, so leap to it and sign up!”

Interested persons or parties should contact Paul McToal on 0771 4205 659, or email [email protected] for more information, or to obtain a sponsorship form. Facebook users are encouraged to befriend FROG mascot ‘Miles McFrog’ for regular updates.
