Nicky John Millar (27), of Drumtara, was at the town’s Magistrates Court on Thursday to be sentenced on charges of criminal damage and disorderly behaviour arising out of the incident.

The court also heard police noticed he was “fidgeting” at 2am on October 9 last year at the town’s Queen Street and they found he was in possession of cannabis. A defence lawyer said his client had a dependency on alcohol and drugs and he had a “drunken argument” at the Cullybackey Road shop and has already paid for his half of the damage. District Judge Peter King was told Millar has been trying to improve his situation and he told the defendant: “You are looking remarkably well”.
