Kind-hearted Rossanna helps ‘raise the roofs’
For eight-year-old Carrowreagh Primary School pupil Rossanna Eyben-McGuire was so moved by the aftermath of the typhoon that she decided to take matters into her own hands.
After discovering from a family friend who works for a charity in the Philippines that it only costs £50 to provide a roof for a family home, Primary Four pupil Rossanna headed for her kitchen and cooked up some delicious cupcakes to sell to her classmates.

“She has been fundraising before Christmas selling little handbags and pencil cases to her school friends.
“Then she came into school wanting to hold a bun sale.
“She baked some lovely buns and our Wednesday afternoon club also helped out by using their cooking classes to make buns.
“The bun sale plus the sale of the bags raised £200 which is fantastic.”
