Lambeg LOL support Uganda trip

THE Officers and Members of Lambeg LOL 138 recently presented Julie Prentice with a cheque for £200 towards her charity trip to Uganda.

Julie said: “The Uganda Project ’12 is a programme aiming to impact communities both locally and abroad. It is geared towards enriching the lives of those we meet and leaving a mark that will benefit the areas we visit. Our focus is very much towards the children of Uganda, offering things we take for granted here such as clean water, clothes and an education.”

Julie continued: “The objectives of this team start well before we even board an airplane, as it primarily challenges those in the team and the community they are a part of. It will be a team of 10 adults and 10 young people from various backgrounds and attitudes. These particular young people will range from living in care, engaging with youth justice and as flagging up for ongoing trouble with the PSNI as well as other figures of authority.

“Issues prevalent in these young people will involve substance misuse, underage drinking, vandalism, anti-social behaviour and truancy. It is therefore the vision of this team that by taking these select young people out of their comfort zones and norms of their existence, that we believe there will be real change both outwardly in the work they do and inwardly through the things they see and achieve.”

Accompanying the youths will be a diverse dynamic team of professionals who have a heart to see and cater for change in these young people, are qualified to deal with any issues and have the drive to see lives changed for good.

Any support would be greatly appreciated to help make the vision of this team a reality.

The Officers and Members of Lambeg LOL 138 wished everyone involved in the project every success. You can contact or donate to Julie by visiting the website www.childrenofafrica.com/JuliePrentice/
