Local men charged with £300k cocaine seizure at Belfast Docks

TWO men from Coleraine have been remanded in custody following the seizure of cocaine estimated to be worth £300,000 at Belfast Docks.

It is believed the men were arrested as they got off a ferry from Scotland.

David Aaron Loughrey (21) of Ashdale and Scott McBride (18) of Kingsbury Gardens, appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court on Friday.

They are both charged with possession of a Class A drug, and possession with intent to supply.

The drugs, with an estimated street value of 300,000, were seized following an operation by the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) last Thursday.

Officers from the Serious Organised Crime Agency also confiscated a veterinary anaesthetic, which they suspect would have been used as a cutting agent.

The pair have been remanded in custody to appear via videolink at Laganside Magistrates Court on Friday, March 12.
