Lodges attend Jubilee Dinner

THE Grand Master of the Grand Orange Lodge or Ireland, Edward Stevenson, was the guest of honour at a Jubilee Dinner hosted by the members and officers of Londonderry District No. 3.

The event was hosted by the Worshipful master of St Johnston LOL 992, Ernest McClintock and the Lodge members, and took the form of a dinner and cultural evening.

Also on the guest list were officers and members of other Lodges and District Lodges, including the officers and members of the City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, led by the Grand Master of the City Grand Orange Lodge, James Hetherington.

Toasts to the Queen were made and replying Bro Stevenson also toasted the Grand Lodge of Ireland, while Bro Hetherington also replied to the Queen’s toast and toasted the City Grand Orange Lodge.

Entertainment for the evening was supplied by Bro David Scott, education officer for the Grand Lodge of Ireland, who gave a Power Point presentation on the history of the Royal Family, and this was followed by two sets of music from the members of Castlederg Young Defenders Flute Band.

The hall in St Johnston was suitably decorated with Jubilee bunting and catering for the evening was performed by the ladies of Newtowncunningham, who served a three-course meal.

The evening was brought to a close with the singing of the National Anthem.
