Lucky seven for leap year Sharon
THEY say never ask a woman her age - but Ballymena hairdresser Sharon Reid is happy to tell you that she will only have seven candles on her cake tomorrow (Wednesday).
Starting school at one-year-old and progressing to secondary education before her third birthday, it may sound a little far fetched, an early April Fool maybe, but no, the clue is in the date of Sharon’s seventh birthday - Friday, February 29.
As 2012 is a leap year, Sharon, who is based at Perfection Hair and Beauty Salon on Broughshane Street, will get to celebrate her proper birth date.

Hide Ad“But I’ll really be 28 years old on Friday,” the Broughshane girl said.
She added: “I normally celebrate my birthday on February 28 each year. It hasn’t really caused that much confusion, it just makes this birthday a little bit more special.”
