Man in court over aggravated burglary

A man has appeared in court charged with breaking in to a Lisburn home last weekend.

Jackie Kirkwood, 38, from Mersey Street in Belfast is accused of breaking into the Tirownen Drive home of a mother with a disabled child in the early hours of Friday July 24.

It is alleged he then went next door to the home of a pensioner who was away at the time, where he proceeded to smash windows.

The court heard he was tasered by Police three times before he was arrested.

Kirkwood is charged with two counts of aggravated burglary.

The defendant was remanded in custody until the 24 August.
