Margaret Gurney from Ballymena (left) who was awarded the B.E.M in the Queen's New Year Honours List, is pictured with her daughter, Valerie, attending the Garden Party at Buckingham Palace last month. Local Alzheimers Society volunteer Margaret was awarded the British Empire Medal for her services to the community in Ballymena and Antrim and received her medal at a ceremony at Hillsborough at the end of April. She recognised for her outstanding work and commitment to help raise awareness, funds and offering support to those who are diagnosed with dementia and Alzheimers. (Submitted Picture).
