Mid & East Antrim - One Place, Many People!

One Place, Many People is the theme of the Week, which runs from Monday, September 28, to Sunday, October 4, Co-ordinated by Community Relations Council NI, and now in its 13th year, Community Relations and Cultural Awareness Week is encouraging citizens from Mid & East Antrim borough to celebrate the wide range of people and cultures throughout this new borough, and what it means to share one place as many different people.

Recognising the importance and significance of promoting this high profile event in the local area, Mid & East Antrim Borough Council has been working closely with the community, voluntary and statutory sectors, to develop a unique programme of events for the borough.

Speaking at the Launch of Community Relations and Cultural Diversity Week for Mid & East Antrim, Mayor Cllr Billy Ashe commented: “Mid & East Antrim Borough Council is delighted to promote and embrace this year’s theme One Place, Many People, particularly in light of our new Council boundary and the opportunity this presents for people from Ballymena, Carrickfergus and Larne.

“We want everyone in Mid & East Antrim to feel welcome, safe, respected and celebrated, and Community Relations Week is an excellent opportunity to celebrate all aspects of our culture and heritage, promote cultural diversity and work together to address sectarianism and racism.

“Good Relations Officers of the Council have been working closely with different groups throughout Mid & East Antrim in an attempt to produce a programme which includes something for everyone. Council’s vision is Working Together to Create a Better Future for All and we hope that events which run in Mid & East Antrim during Community Relations and Cultural Diversity Week will help to achieve this!”
