Miss Slinky loves her new slimline look

A LARNE woman who shed three and a half stone on a local weight loss programme is hoping to help others achieve similar results.

Lynsey Montgomery, 27, joined the Slimming World programme at Larne Library after giving birth to her first daughter, and it was not long before she started seeing results.

“I knew myself that I was carrying excess baby weight, but lacked the will and determination to do anything about it. I believed that any weight loss plan would be too restrictive, having to limit and count everything I ate,” she said.

Lynsey started attending Slimming World’s five o’clock class on Thursdays, and quickly discovered that the Extra Easy plan was the one for her. She added: “It all sounded totally amazing. I could eat unlimited potatoes, rice, pasta, lean meat, chicken, fruit and veg, all my favourites and still enjoy the treats I love, like my mum’s home made sponge cake after Sunday dinner, something I could never give up.

“I almost didn’t believe I could eat all this and still lose weight, but in just a few months I had lost two and a half stone. What’s more, I was never hungry - a side effect from every other diet I had tried before.”

Shortly after receiving her two and a half stone weight loss award, Lynsey was thrilled to discover she was expecting her second child. She stuck with the plan as much as possible, but decided to leave the programme half-way through pregnancy.

A few weeks after giving birth to her second daughter, Lynsey began to think about losing weight again and yearned for her pre-baby figure. “After seeing pictures of myself I realised that I had to go back. So when Sophie was nine weeks old, I went back to the library and re-joined my Slimming World group once again. Attending her first weigh-in after re-joining, Lynsey was delighted to learn she had lost nine pounds in her first week. “After seven and a half months I finally reached my target weight, losing a total of three and a half stone.”
