Model children hold a Dance-athon for Sristi

ON Wednesday last, all the children at Ballymoney Model took part in a "Dance-athon" to raise money for a five year old Sristi who lives in Nepal.

Sristi’s hearing loss is profound and to hear at a satisfactory level to develop speech and language, she will need a Cochlear Implant.

In the UK this operation would be paid for by the NHS and children who would benefit from it are usually diagnosed early and receive the implantation before their third birthday.

In Nepal the money for this operation, equivalent 12,000, has to be raised by the family. Sristi’s family are unable to find this amount. Currently she has not started school as her local government school will not admit her due to her disability. Her family cannot afford the cost to send her to a private school or a school for deaf children.

The children at Ballymoney Model hope that their dancing to, and enjoyment of musi,c can help raise enough money for Sristi who presently lives in a silent world to have this life changing operation.
