More money for improvements

A FURTHER £30,000 is to be spent by the council on improving shop fronts in Lurgan.

Already a total of 45,000 has been contributed by the council to help locally owned businesses to improve the outward appearance of their premises.

Money for the project is partly funded by the council and partly by the private sector.

That money has already assisted over 20 businesses which, according to the council, has made a “positive impact on the rather run-down look” of Lurgan.

The council believes that further shop improvements were required to continue the “much needed revitalisation of the ‘look and feel’ of the town.”

And now there’s a waiting list of 10 shops hoping to benefit from the further 30,000 being injected into the scheme, which will see investment in Lurgan brought into line with that in Portadown, which had already received 75,000 for the same purpose.
