Mystery as bars close on Monday

The majority were closed completely while others closed their doors with access only via the off licence.

Only a couple of pubs and clubs remained open.

A selection of bars were contacted on Tuesday by the ‘MAIL’ but none was prepared to comment on why they had either closed or shut their main doors to customers.

There had been some trouble in William Street on Thursday. A PSNI spokesperson said that officers had entered a yard in William Street on Thursday night where a group of men were ‘squaring up to each other’.

“One of the men spat at a police officer and was arrested for assault.”
