Now in its third year, Cookstown Retail Week is being spearheaded by Mid Ulster District Council, and jointly supported by Cookstown Town Centre Forum and Cookstown Chamber of Commerce.

Launching Retail Week, Chair of the Council, Councillor Linda Dillon, said: “Cookstown has an established reputation for good shopping, offering a mix of family-owned, independent shops and well-known high street names. This week is all about showcasing what’s on offer with special promotions that will encourage local people to come into and enjoy the shopping experience on their own doorsteps. I’m delighted the Council is once again working with local traders to support local businesses”.

Street entertainment and live music on the opening day of retail week (Saturday 20 June, 1pm-4pm) will all add to the atmosphere and are an important part of creating a town centre which is a place people want to visit, according to President of the Chamber of Commerce, Paul Wilson:

“Adding value to people’s shopping experience and keeping our town centres vibrant helps to attract and, importantly, retain our customers, and that’s what Retail Week sets out to do.

“The response from local businesses has been excellent and shoppers can look forward to picking up some bargains, taking advantage of discounts and enjoying the atmosphere over the course of the week”.
