'The Tower Tours Ireland', launched earlier this month, has generated over £2000 and counting for Childline NI.

The initiative sees participants taking part in virtual runs, walks or cycles amounting to the distance around the island of Ireland - a staggering 3,171 km.

"A number of charities were suggested by staff, with Childline NI being chosen to receive the donation. The staff chose Childline for a number of reasons, particularly in this present health care crisis where children's mental health and well-being is paramount," said the school.

"Childline provides free and confidential 24-hour help for children in distress or danger. Trained volunteer counsellors comfort, advise, support and protect children and young people who may feel they have nowhere else to turn."

The group challenge began on Monday May 11 and, just over fortnight later, 47 members of staff have reached an amazing 2630km by walking, running or cycling around their local areas, whilst adhering to lockdown rules.

"The staff would like to thank everyone who have so generously donated to the challenge. An amazing £2163 has been raised so far for Childline NI," the school added.
