All the proceeds raised on the day are going to the charitable Race To Recovery Rally Team, who back in January competed in the world famous Dakar Rally, with a team of disabled British-service personnel.

Galgorm man Phillip made history by becoming the first amputee to complete the event after enduring 14 days of racing, covering over 8,000km across Chile and Peru.

With tulip directions in hand the eclectic mix of 30 cars were flagged away by Phillip who then joined the field in his own Audi RS4 with girlfriend Kirsty performing co-driving duties.

For the next couple of hours the field wound its way from one side of the Ards Peninsula to the other, answering quiz questions along the route.

After a ballot and prize-giving Phillip commented how grateful he was to the TSCC for their warm welcome and the club’s fundraising efforts for Race 2 Recovery.

He also conveyed his thanks to the Stevenson’s for their hospitality at the finishing halt in Carrowdore village and to Tony Mc Laughlin for researching the route and quiz questions.
