Pipe bomb in torched van

A VAN torched in the Creggan area of Londonderry on Sunday may have had a pipe bomb thrown into it.

Police attended a report of a van on fire in the High Park area around 10.30pm on Sunday (28).

PSNI enquiries on Monday morning suggested that a pipe bomb type device may have been thrown into the vehicle.

Anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area last night is asked to contact detectives at Strand Road on 0845 600 8000. Alternatively information can be passed on anonymously through the "Crimestoppers" charity on freephone 0800 555 111.
