Police warning after building site is targeted by thieves

Police are appealing for information following a theft from a building site in the Society Street area of Coleraine, sometime between 5pm on Tuesday, September 6 and 8.30am on Wednesday, September 7.

It is reported that a window was smashed, cable was cut, a Dewalt drill set and 15 brass stop cocks were taken.

Constable Adrian Gillan said: “Despite the criminality involved, I would also advise people of the dangers of accessing a building site without authority.

People can suffer serious injury or worse from live electricity or gas works so think about your own safety and do not enter.

“I ask anyone with any information about this incident to contact Coleraine Police Station on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 226 of 07/09/16. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
