Prison sentence for benefit fraud

A Lisburn man was convicted at Lisburn Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday for claiming benefits to which he was not entitled.

Christopher Foster (35) of Larch Lane in the city claimed Jobseekers Allowance and Housing Benefit totalling £3,120 while failing to declare employment.

The defendant was given a four month prison sentence which was suspended for two years.

He is also required to repay any outstanding money wrongfully obtained by his false claims to the Social Security Agency.
