Rape Crime Unit issues public appeal

Detectives from the PSNI’s Rape Crime Unit investigating a serious sexual assault in the Main Street area of Larne in August are appealing for information.

It was reported to police that some time during the early hours of Sunday 26, a 22-year-old female, who had been socialising in the Main Street area, was assaulted in a lane way by an unknown male. The female had been wearing a red dress, black leggings, a black vest top with lace on the front and a lace panel on the back, and a black cardigan.

Police are working to establish the details of the incident and are asking anyone who may have been socialising in the Main Street area on the evening of Saturday, August 25 and who may have seen the woman, or anything suspicious, to contact them immediately.

They would also like to hear from anyone who has any other information in relation to this incident.
