Working hours on watermains improvements within the town centre have been changed, according to NI Water.

The revised hours, effective until the project is completed by the end March, are: Sunday 6.30pm-6.30am, Monday-Wednesday 7.00pm-6.30am & Thursday 9.30pm-6.30am.

The company has also pointed out that the existing infrastructure is in need of repair, and it is essential that the watermains are upgraded in advance of Ballymena Borough Council’s “Public Realm” scheme getting underway.

“This work will reduce the future potential risk of burst watermains in the area and will improve the overall security, quality, and reliability of the water supply, while also reducing leakage in the area,” NI Water states.

“In order to reduce the impact on local businesses and road users, the works will continue to be carried out at night. We will liaise with DRD Roads Service, Ballymena Borough Council and local businesses to minimise disruption. However, please note that during these working hours it will be necessary to close Wellington Street, Mill Street, Meetinghouse Lane, Granville Drive, William Street and Hill Street. Signed diversions will be in place and pedestrian access will be maintained..
