Riverdale pupil scoops second prize in school art competition

PUPILS from across Northern Ireland have been awarded their prizes following NI Water’s school art competition, with Riverdale Primary School pupil Andrea Moore, coming second in her category.

The competition, which attracts thousands of entries from schools every year, was themed around ‘Water for Health’ with schools being able to enter under a number of categories.

Jane Jackson, NI Water’s education manager and judge, explained the competition and why water is so important to a young person’s health. “Special attention needs to be paid to children’s fluid intake as they do not understand the importance of keeping hydrated and have a less sensitive thirst response,” she said.

“Pupils were asked to draw a poster to tell others why it is important to drink water for good health. We had many fantastic entries and we look forward to running the competition again.”

The competition was open to all primary school children and included a special needs category.
