Serious asssault - man arrested

Detectives investigating a serious assault in the Main Street area of Cloughmills during the early hours of this morning, Monday, December 23, have arrested a 26 year-old man.

The man, who was arrested in the Coleraine area is currently helping police with their enquiries, a PSNI spokesperson stated.

A 34 year-old man was assaulted in the Main Street area close to its junction with Loughill Road and Drumdoon Road. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for his injuries and his condition is described as critical

Detectives are appealing for anyone who witnessed the assault or anyone with any information about the incident to contact CID in Coleraine Police Station on 0845 600 8000.
