Sisters help line up charity support

TEENAGE Cadets from north Belfast and Newtownabbey have been turning fun into funds, with the Annual Fun Day enjoyed by Cadets at Dunmore TA Centre raising £2,000 for the teenagers' nominated charity, ChildLine - a service of the NSPCC.

Karen Walker, NSPCC community fundraising manager, said: “I would like to thank everyone who took part in the annual fun day and helped to raise vital funds for ChildLine.

“ChildLine is the UK’s free, 24-hour confidential helpline for children and young people who need to talk. Trained counsellors are there to provide comfort, support and advice about any problem that’s on their minds.

“The four main issues children call ChildLine about are bullying, sexual abuse, physical abuse and family relationships. The NSPCC believes a child’s cry for help should never be ignored, but sadly not all children get the protection and help they need at home.

“The ChildLine service offers those children someone to turn to.”
