Son of murdered man is fined
The case was due to be contested at the court sitting, however McDaid changed his plea to guilty.
Court heard that police on patrol in the Hazelbank Road area of Coleraine observed two males drinking from beer cans on August 9 last year at 3.30pm

Hide AdPolice approached the pair, and one was identified as McDaid Ryan Kevin McDaid (22).
When police approached McDaid he became abusive and made derogatory remarks to the officers and was arrested.
McDaid’s solicitor told the court that it wasn’t a ‘run of the mill’ disorderly case.
The solicitor said: “We have a police officer here who is officious. Yes there was a ‘no alcohol’ sign, but it wasn’t a call for police to go to the scene. Mr McDaid accepts that his actions were inappropriate.
“This is a 22-year-old man, and this incident happened four months after his father’s death. He was at a low end.”
District Judge, Richard Wilson, fined McDaid 150.
