Specsavers raising money for Action MS

Specsavers’ Action MS fundraising will take place this Saturday with teams from all 17 Specsavers stores across Northern Ireland working to raise as much money as possible in one single day, for this excellent local charity.

The Coleraine Specsavers team is going one step further, by embarking on a two-day fundraising effort.

The Coleraine staff will raise vital funds in-store on Saturday ahead of their adventurous walk on Sunday which will see them walking from East Strand beach, Portrush to the White Rocks and back.

The team will be dressed to impress in their Action MS t-shirts and matching buckets, chatting to the local community and collecting donations from passers by on both Saturday and Sunday – and should any passers by wish to join them on their walk, they are more than welcome! In addition to this, donations can also be made in store.

Store director, Judith Ball, told The Coleraine Times: ‘Among other symptoms, MS can have a hugely detrimental effect on a person’s eye sight. That’s the reason Specsavers had no hesitation in getting involved in such a worthy cause.

“Some people may suffer from symptoms such as double vision, blurred vision, a partial squint, rapid eye movements or pain in one or both eyes. This visual disturbance is often worse or only apparent during MS attacks. It can often prompt a fear of blindness.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for Specsavers’ staff from across all 17 stores in Northern Ireland to help make a difference. The sincere hope is that collectively we can not only raise a considerable amount of money to help Action MS with their excellent work, but also help raise awareness of effects that the illness can have on a person’s eye health as well as their general health.

“Our customers and the local community have always been extremely supportive when it comes to Specsavers charity initiatives, and I know that we will have full support this time round, so I look forward to seeing how much we can raise.”
