Stewartstown pupil reaches World No 1 spot

A pupil from Stewartstown Primary School has reached the number one spot in the world.

Primary 6 pupil Jessica Leigh accumulated a total of over 8,500 points in one day on the online maths resource known as Mathletics, which was the best daily total on that day.

The school say they are are very proud of the hard work Jessica has put into her studies.

Principal Ms Bolton said that reaching the number one spot in the world was quite an accomplishment, and that Jessica has certainly set a very high standard which will be difficult to beat.

Stewartstown Primary School is one of the few schools in the local area that have the online facility where pupils can work on their mathematical skills on an iPad or computer.

Pupils can access the activities at home or in school, and their progress and scores are recorded, allowing the teachers to view and analyse the outcomes.

Ms Bolton also said she’ was delighted with the progress of the children’s mathematical skills through the use of the innovative programme, and that she is very proud that Stewartstown Primary is leading the way forward.
