Throughout the week participating shops have been showcasing their unique retail assets, by providing special offers in store. Don’t forget Saturday 29 June is the last day to avail of special offers!

On Saturday 29 June, in addition to the weekly Saturday market the main retail core of Cookstown town centre will come ‘alive’, with an array of street entertainment. Between the hours of 12.00Noon and 4.00pm, mobile face painters, balloon modellers and cartoon characters, alongside stilt walkers and jugglers will entertain Cookstown Shoppers.

To add to the ambiance of the afternoon a number of bands will perform in the retail core at various intervals, as traders and shoppers get into the swing of the Saturday street entertainment.

Chairman of Cookstown Town Centre Forum, Cllr John McNamee said “By bringing entertainment on to the streets we are emphasising the town’s uniquely family-friendly atmosphere and reinforcing our determination to deliver a positive experience for everyone who visits Cookstown. We know from experience that all generations enjoy the entertainment and it encourages people to prolong their stay within our town centre.”

Another initiative launched during Cookstown Retail Week has been the new Cookstown branded jute shopping bags. Through funding secured from the Department for Social Development and with the introduction of the 5p bag levy in April 2013, a quantity of branded jute shopping bags were commissioned.

The environmentally friendly jute shopping bags are branded with the strapline, ‘Cookstown Looking Good, Looking Great’ and are free to shoppers. During Retail Week pop into Cookstown and pick up your free bag!
