Students enjoy trip to China

STUDENTS and staff from North West Regional College have embarked on the trip of a lifetime this Easter, travelling to China to experience life at prominent Chinese Universities.

Aislinn McDevitt, Amanda Williamson and Leigh McLaughlin are first year students on the Higher National Diploma in Business course at the College, and were delighted to discover earlier this year that they had been successful in their application to the Study China programme.

The scheme is funded by government and provides undergraduates from across the UK an opportunity to study and live in a Chinese University for three weeks.

North West Regional College was the only Higher Education provider in the province where three students successfully won places on the exclusive programme.

The three excited students left recently on their long journey to Beijing Normal University. Before their trip, Amanda explained her reasons for applying to the programme.

"I've always had an interest in Asian culture, especially China and Japan. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity, and I'm especially looking forward to visiting the Great Wall of China, the Peking Opera, exploring the Chinese economy, ceramic craft works and learning more about Chinese culture."
