Tait Brennan was one of 60 youngsters who recently enjoyed a spectacular theatre trip with Belfast School of Performing Arts (BSPA).

The exciting trip saw 60 pupils from across Northern Ireland plus family and staff from BSPA enjoy four days in America, during which they enjoyed two meet and greets with the casts of An American in Paris and Wicked, featuring Northern Ireland actress and BSPA patron Rachel Tucker as Elphaba.

The pupils also took part in a masterclass with Caitlin Abraham, a dancer from An American in Paris, and Andrew Gerle, a Broadway Musical Director who taught them the ballet-inspired dance moves and the song from the show’s most iconic scene.

Ballynure Primary School pupil Tait has attended BSPA’s Belfast School for four years has enjoyed roles in musicals including Dr Seussical, Alice in Wonderland, Little Shop of Horrors and Beauty and the Beast.

She said: “Visiting Broadway, getting to meet the cast and taking part in the masterclass has made me realise that it is super hard work to be in a Broadway show, but that has not put me off.

“I would love to be in Wicked someday.

“I also realised how much practising you need to do. I study classical ballet with Whitehouse Ballet School and the masterclass has made me want to practice more.”
