Thirty new jobs at £4m boutique hotel

THIS month sees the completion of a new £4m boutique style hotel, bar and grill situated on the site originally occupied by the Golf Links Hotel, Portrush.

The Altantis Hotel, Bar and Grill, which has 16 deluxe bedrooms and suites, will help secure 10 existing jobs and create 20 new jobs making it one of the biggest employers in Portrush.

Peter Wilson, Managing Director of Atlantis Hotel, Bar and Grill said: “We have built a stunning new hotel, which adds greatly to the appeal of Portrush as a destination for business and leisure travellers seeking a unique experience.

“We wanted to create a property which was as attractive to families or couples as it was to golfers or food lovers looking for something unique and cost effective which raises the bar in terms of style, added extras and customer service.

“We believe that Atlantis Hotel provides overseas travellers with a chic and contemporary boutique hotel experience to rival any that can be found in any major city but that is essentially and importantly, still a taste of Ireland.”

As well as employing builders and fit out specialists in the first stages of the hotel construction the positive knock-on effect for local commerce will be felt for many years.

“Local builders MPB Construction helped complete the hotel build but it doesn’t stop there.

“Now that we are fully operational we need to supply guests with the services and products expected from a 21st Century hotel and grill.

“We will continue to source all we need from local traders, where possible, everything from fresh produce and linen to labour.”

The bedrooms, bar areas and grill have been fitted out and completed to an exacting standard not usually seen in hotels of this size in Ireland.

Mr Wilson went on to explain: “Right from the start we wanted to use the best materials and innovation available to us to ‘wow’ guests who might be staying overnight, enjoying a meal or who popped in for a drink.

“Our sumptuous bedrooms have been fitted with the latest in-room facilities including flat screen TVs and bespoke bathrooms.

“Our three bars; the JK Bar, Krugers and the Atlantis Bar and Grill all have features specifically designed to enhance people’s enjoyment.

“In our outside bar, Krugers, there is an anti-gravity waterfall which is also interactive as well as a 30ft HD glass projection wall which allows us to project images and major terrestrial events using state-of-the-art technology.

“JK Bar is a glass enclosed bar with stunning views right across the Atlantic Ocean with comfy leather chairs and luxurious cushions as standard.

“Every single decision made, from the choice of quality glassware to the position of the bars to ensure the magnificent views can be appreciated, was done so with our guest’s enjoyment in mind.”

The Atlantis Hotel, Bar and Grill plans to add a further eight glass fronted suites in late 2011 growing its number of bedrooms to 24.

“What we offer people is the perfect base to enjoy the beautiful North Coast in a comfortable and memorable way with emphasis on value for money and customer service,” said Mr Wilson.

“We are not only investing in the tourism industry but also in the people and traders of Portrush whose hard work and commitment will form the cornerstone of our hotel’s success.”
