Opened in the summer of 2012, New Hope supports the work of Cookstown & District Women’s Group and Tiny Steps Creche on Park Avenue. And they need your support.

New Hope chair Jean Donaghy has spoken of the valuable work at the centre - which has provided a caring and friendly environment while catering to the needs of the local community - over the past 18 years.

As well as both organisations’ work with the elderly, single parents, young offenders and those suffering addiction problems she said the centre also provides a lifeline in times of despair - hence the name “New Hope”.

“We provide personal development, recreational, and accredited training,” she added. “Many have availed of our free listening ear and counselling services and have taken part in many cross community and peace building projects.”

Jean Donaghy voluntarily manages the shop and arranges the annual fashion show where all the clothes donated to the shop are modelled by the centre participants and then sold on that evening of the fashion show at a reasonable price.

And for that reason the fashion show creates a lot of excitement for the participants as for many this is a first opportunity to be a model strut down the catwalk.

Tickets are available at Positive Steps Community Centre.

The shop is opened Monday to Friday 10am–2pm.
