Top results at St Killian’s

Eighty per cent of St Killian’s students achieved grades A* – C in their examinations with 100 per cent of students achieving at least two A Level passes.

Principal Jonny Brady said: “The college saw the percentage of students, who achieved A*/A increase to 27 per cent, with 14 per cent achieving three straight As or better with the vast majority of students gaining entry to the courses of their choice in higher education when places on such courses are highly competitive and we wish them well.

“Again, there was a rise in the students who achieved top grades, Emily Campbell, from Larne, with the school giving a special mention as our top achiever with an outstanding three A*s and one A. She has received the prestigious Dickson Poon Bursary to read law with French in King’s College London.“

Other top achievers include Eamon Kearns A* and three As; Hayley McCarthy, four As; Ciara McLoughlin, three A*s; Matthew Guiller and Paul McCurry, one A* and two As; Shaun O’Boyle, three As and B; Paul McKay and Ronan McIlwaine, three As.

Mr. Brady added: “It is fantastic to see so many of our students achieve and even exceed their expectations and they deserve great credit for their hard work and dedication.

“These excellent results are down to the hard work and commitment of our students and staff as well as the support and partnership that the school continues to develop with our parents and the wider community.

“The students and teachers should be rightly proud of the tremendous set of results that have been achieved. The college, once again, has demonstrated its consistency in delivering high quality learning and teaching as noted by the Educational and Training Inspectorate in November 2012.

“The College would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all our A Level students on their fantastic success. We look forward to pursuing future success for our students at post 16 and thank our parents for their continued support.”

“Other significant results were achieved in the STEM area, in which 65 per cent of St. Killian’s students attained A* - B grades in chemistry, physics, biology, mathematics and technology and design.

“In addition, new subjects continue to make their mark with 100 per cent of A* in construction and 85 per cent A-C grades in engineering.

“This underscores the college’s success in delivering a broad range of educational pathways to develop the interests and talents of all our students providing them with the academic results and key life skills to confidently contribute to society and the economy of the future.”
