200 homes to get new heating

OVER 200 homes in Londonderry are due for a heating upgrade in 2013/14 but the renovation of 75 Waterside dwellings is unlikely to account for significant expenditure over the financial year as it won’t get up and running until March 2014.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland was asked by SDLP MLA Colum Eastwood to detail the schemes the Housing Executive has planned for the Derry City Council area in 2013/14.

He replied that 86 dwellings in Benevenagh, Blighs Gardens and Blighs Lane; 62 dwellings in Ederowen/Elaghmore; and 75 dwellings in the Waterside are earmarked for improvements.

He stated: “Funding is in place for these schemes, however the Waterside heating scheme has a current Date of Possession (DOP) of March 2014 and is unlikely to account for significant expenditure in 2013/14, unless it can be advanced within the programme.
