The incident occurred at the life ring station on the banks of the Six Mile Water, close to Muckamore Bridge.

Commenting on the incident, a spokesperson for the Six Mile Water Trust said: “Thankfully no damage was caused to the ring and it was recovered from the river and returned to the station.

“We would call on the culprits to grow up and act their age. Someday someone’s life may depend on this safety equipment.”
