Watch: Ardboe Parish awards 12 ‘community heroes’ at gala dinner

Following on from the very successful Jailbreak Fundraiser last year, the Parish Support Group decided to recognise the many local people who bring that something extra to the lives of others.

As well as Lough Neagh Rescue, which scooped Volunteer of the year Award; a role model, neighbour of the year and overcoming adversity award were dished out - to name just a few.

The finalists were all invited along to a Gala Night in Tullyglass House Hotel where the winners of the 12 categories were announced.

Each went home with a trophy and £100, while Eithne Quinn, who was crowned Person of the Year, won £1,000.

Here’s the list of winners:

Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Quinns Coach Hire, went to Lough Neagh Rescue.

Neighbour of the Year Award, sponsored by Forbes Racing Ardboe, went to Sadie McGeehan.

Cathal Forbes from Ardboe O’Donovan Rossa presented Eilish Devlin with the Arts and Culture Promoter Award.

Carer of the Year Award, which was sponsored by St Malachy’s GAC Moortown was presented to Mary McKeown.

The Green/Eco Pride Award sponsored by Carson Coldstores was given to Mary Doris.

Charity Champion Award, which was sponsored by Ardboe Parish Centre was awarded to Raymond and Teresa Scullion.

Role Model of the Year Award, sponsored by Ardboe Credit Union, was presented to Isobel Quinn.

Sportsperson of the Year Award, sponsored by Forbes Spar Ardboe, was presented by Cathal Forbes to Stefan O’Hare.

Service with a smile Award, sponsored by Kinturk Cultural Centre, went to Anne Mulligan.

Overcoming Adversity Award sponsored by LS Results was presented to Eithne Quinn by Shane Whitehouse.

Spirit of Youth Award, sponsored by Donal Lavery Funeral Directors, was awarded to Danielle Mayo.

Community Award, sponsored by Quinn Building Supplies, was presented to Mickey Duffy of Ardboe Parish Project Support Group.

Ardboe Parish Person of the Year Award winner was Eithne Quinn.
