Anglers hold friendly contest

ISLANDDERRY Fishery, Dromore was host to the Islandderry Trout Anglers friendly competition on Saturday against a team from Springwater Meadow Fishery, Lisburn.

This was the third competition held between the two teams, with Islandderry taking first place in both the past events. All day it was neck and neck between the two teams with at one stage only 8 ounces between the weights!

In the end Springwater Meadow was the winning team with Francie Hearst netting a lovely 5lb4 trout to take his team into a well deserved first place and taking home the trophy. Wilson Usher (Springwater) took home the individual prize for heaviest 2 fish weighed at 9lb14 while Islanderry’s Paul Brown took second with 2 fish for 8lb11. Final team weights were Springwater Meadow 43lb11, Islandderry Trout Anglers 38lb8. Islandderry would like to thank all the boys from Springwater for helping to make it a great days fun and sport and look forward to the rematch.
