Ballymena tennis veterans star for Ulster

BALLYMENA Lawn Tennis Club were delighted to have two of their players taking part in the All Ireland Annual Super Senior Veterans Interprovincial Championships in Galway last weekend.

Fergus Barklie and Alex Keenan had a very busy two days playing with their other two Ulster players Dermott Mitchell from Belfast and Jack Thompson who flew in from Toronto to take part.

Ballymena Lawn Tennis Club were delighted to have Fergus Barklie appointed by Tennis Ireland Ulster Branch as Captain of his Ulster Team the 75 years young side who gained one win for the Ulster score of 30 wins.

Ulster came second to Leinster in the overall championships with 32 wins followed by Munster 20 and Connaught 16.

There were approximately 130 players taking part in this major annual tennis event.
