With race t-shirts guaranteed for the first 150 entrants, an excellent prize fund, good lap course and a healthy mix of running abilities, an early entry is recommended.

Meanwhile national masters track & field action in Tullamore on Sunday produced a total of seven championship medals for local athletes, including three golds.

F50 Long Jump and Javelin double for Danea Herron and a M55 800m win for Robert Bigger.

Freddy Sittu meanwhile won the Monaghan 10 mile road race on Saturday and Teresa McGloin ran a quick 35 minutes and 01 seconds to win Friday night’s Ballyare 10K.

Danea Herron celebrated her final year in the F50 age group at a weather affected Tullamore on Saturday, signing off in style with a Long jump and Javelin golden double, the City of Derry Spartans masters star doing it the hard way, posting her winning efforts in each event on her fourth and final attempts.

She was delighted with her latest wins at national level and will now look forward to a new age group and hopefully more success in 2014.

In the M55 age group Robert Bigger compensated for a couple of months injury induced break with a splendid 800m gold and a 400m silver. He had returned to competition a week earlier at the Mary Peters track with a 2 minutes and 15 seconds two lapper in the Team Trophy competition and this effort clearly stood him in good stead in Tullamore as he too added to his impressive National Masters medal haul.

Foyle Valley’s M45 Cathal McLaughlin was another local in the medals, silver in the 800m and bronze over 400m, good performances from an athlete consistently making his mark on the track, and M60 Malcolm McCausland, in the Lifford AC colours kept the medals flowing with a 400m silver.
